What is it about Synchronet that people like so much? This BBS looks decent and everything, but I have a difficult time getting used to the Synchronet way of doing things (particularly in message bases.)
As a sysop, I liked the fact that I could run several servers (web, mail, news, FTP, IRC and Gopher!) on a cast-off little celeron box running Windows.
Now, in 2025, Synchronet is almost completely self-contained - with SSH support, LetsEncrypt, a mail tosser and Fidonet mailer built-in to Synchronet.
I've played with a full-screen message reader, but am having problems with new scan pointers - it keeps "forgetting" your last-read message. The reader should make reading messages a little more fluid than the old-school "one message at a time" style of message reading.
