I just saw a comment posted by Haliphax (sysop of Oddnetwork BBS) in Facebook about his interest to build an MRChat for x84 boards and or Synchronet.
Ohh, that's very cool.
I should get to work and put that connector out.
I'm getting some heat on DOVE-Net for not wanting to gate it to IRC.
Seems hard to understand there is no point to having MRC if it's just another IRC client more or less.
IRC isn't getting anywhere really and is just a place for folks to idle all day. I would like MRC to become something different and avoid at all cost to import other platforms issues and problems if at all possible.
Anyway, I wonder if any developer always implement all the suggestions they receive...

I'd also like to avoid giving an IRC operator power to kick/ban users at will. The way I envision it in MRC will make much more sense very
shortly.

This is very funny when you think about it...
If MRC gets much more popular, then you'll have to start coding some addons for it. like games and such, and maybe some bots. Bots are certainly a viable possiblity. Like maybe a bot to advertise the BBS of the day, etc.

Advertising the "BBS of the day" might be done in the scroller by the server, but surely it would be better to keep the messages in the chat window only made by actual humans with their fingers on keyboards in realtime, not some automated system(s)?
I wouldn't want to see it while in "chat". For me. I'd rather see it maybe upon exiting the chat. A rotation of ads that randomly display
upon exit.

Now that you make the point about wanting to keep MRC locally on
BBSes, I'm all for keeping IRC and MRC separate. I'd just like an MRC client for Synchronet, but the weekly chats are a good excuse for me
to get off my ass and call other boards for a change. :)

Well, you are always welcome to call another board. I think we should
all do that for the meetup. Could be a great opportunity to visit other boards.
Watch this space... I heard from a reliable source that there'll be MRC
in Synchronet very VERY soon.
I wanna see that BBS count go over 100+. :D It'll be said though if the Synchronet people outnumber us Mystic Chatters. :P
Yeah that'd be super cool... and don't be sad, be happy... remember; it started here first! =)

Honestly I'd be ecstatic. :D More people to talk to.

While I agree add-on's for MRC might be tempting, advertising bots probably would take away from the organic retro feel of what it's about IMHO...

This is just my thoughts and opinion.

Most definitely. I love dialing out to other sysop's BBSes. :D Need to go outside of our homes and visit others in the bbs community heh.

Many times I get jealous when I call out to other BBSes. Everybody else has better setups than mine.

If you need some help with your menus, screens, etc... Let us know. :D

I have been enjoying calling boards using Retro BBS Term
programs. From Term 4.8 and JR-Comm for the Amiga and CCGMS for the Commodore 64. With today's emulators, its not hard at all. Makes me
feel like I am back in the early 90's.
Not quite as retro, but I use Telix in DOSBOX. Mostly to hear that
connect tone that I'd wait for when gang-dialing my entire dialing directory looking for an open board.
