Merry Christmas; its that time of year! As I've been living in the Pacific Northwest, I wanted to enjoy some spirits from around these neck of the woods. The Cascade Street Distillery is located in Sisters, Oregon and its whiskeys are unique because they use water that has been filtered through volcanic rock.
Its aged for 2 years and consists of corn, rye and barley on its mashbill.
Honey in color... the nose is particularly sweet. Vanilla... candy... spice. These smells end up covering the spicyness of its flavor in a very desirable way. While you might think the nose is sweet, just wait. It won't be too much of a carebears event.
Spice and honey at the root of this spirits palate - its smooth - its good - one can appreciate the candy sweetness from before. Ultimately the sum of these flavors is a super drinkable, easy to go down glass. Its and easy whiskey
to drink...
The finish lasts and has a blend of flavors that you'll want to go back to.
This spirit is inexpensive enough that you can, without feeling too badly - I think that this will be a two glass event. :P
I was surprised at how drinkable this Broken Top was, usually when I smell so much sweetness right off the top I find myself in a liquor that doesn't sit well. Not the case here - its spicy flavor shines thru in the most smooth way...

This stuff is good. Smooth. Anyone's whiskey, just perfect for the season and all your Christmas guests. I don't know that anyone would be turned off by this mountain whiskey.
