  • PCBoard 16 (Modern Pascal)

    I've never run PCBoard before and noticed that there's a new PCBoard 16 due
    out soon which was totally rewritten in Modern Pascal. I know several of you program in Pascal but the older version with Lazurus. What does Modern
    Pascal provide that the standard version doesn't?

    I've loved the look and feel of PCBoard when someone totally mods it up. One of the best BBS Software in the day for warez. :D There were also so many people and groups that created PPE mods for it in the 90s. So many to choose from till this day.

    If anyone ever gets to run this software, I'd be interested to see what your thoughts are on this new version.

    Is the author still trying to make money off it? Or is it freeware now?

    Either way, that is exciting! I'd like to see it in action too. I think
    Caphood has it running - but not sure if he has 16?

    PCBoard was expensive back in the day. I would've wanted to run it cause you could customize it a lot back then. I was running Oblivion/2 and just didn't have the time to run two different boards during the dial-up era.

    Is the author still trying to make money off it? Or is it freeware now?

    It's a different author and I'm not sure if he's looking to monetize off of
    it. From what I see, it could be free as the code is available online as open-source.

    Either way, that is exciting! I'd like to see it in action too. I think Caphood has it running - but not sure if he has 16?

    PCBoard 16 is not from the original author and is written from scratch in a different language (Modern Pascal). Original PCBoard was written in C.

    Well, the author (Ozz) is on my board. Hopefully I can steer him to this
    echo to answer questions about PCB16. It'd be nice to know what's currently
    on the drawing board for the future release of PCB16.
