• PySpecSDR & Heatwave - RTLSDR projects

From xqtr@911:30210/0 to All on Monday, November 25, 2024 18:46:15
I released two new projects of mine, that are RTLSDR related. Not exactly HPAVC, but still can used to "hack" the airwaves. :)

The first one called PySpecSDR, which is a spectrum analyzer and listening program like GQRX, but for the terminal. Only ASCII chars. used... no GUI necessary :)

The second one is a frequency scanner, that uses the linux framebuffer for drawing a heatmap, thus detecting any signals.

Both projects were developed, having Raspberry Pis/SBCs in mind that work without GUI/Window managers. Both have many features.

Check them at my Github repo at:

Very cool! So this is what you've been up to between Demonic releases :P Looking forward to checking these out. I have an SDR that I've done basically nothing with. I should dig into it a bit more.

Love it. Great work and thanks for sharing... maybe I'll pull out an antenna or two and have some fun in the CLI.

have to admit i didn't expect to see project announcements using an SDR on here. hehe. one of the coolest conceptual technologies in the last 50 years IMO.

i have a beefier one laying around here. ettus b210. i don't think a pi is powerful enough to run it, but i could probably just leave it on a regular system and give the terminal project a shot.

My RTL2838 runs flawless on a RPi02W and that's the reason i made this project :)
