Yea - its been a pretty good success w/ plenty of players to where
theres time to spectate AND play for an hour... hoping you can make it, but if not don't worry TOO much - we're gonna continue doing it the 1st Saturday of every month, so - it'll be there when you CAN make it.

Woot! I finally made good and actually showed up for once, even if it
was only for an hour. Ended up in 2nd (barely missed first) in one match and 3rd in a few more. Not bad for not having played Doom in years.
Not sure what your turn out has been, but I think we had as many as 12 concurrents while I was there last night. Pretty good!
DUDE! We were all asking in chat if it was jP - I bet you have yer
aspect ratio super high and the chat text is teeny tiny. (You can either change the text aspect ratio scaling or select a lower resolution in the settings menu...)
Yea; its been around 10-15 in previous months, and I think we hit 20
users who joined over different time slots. It was our best month yet - 2oFB had 6 new users calling specifically to grab the DOOM password/information and we had 81 callers yesterday on the board!!

We now also have a Minetest server up and running; minetest.20forbeers.com:30000 - If meetups are hard to get to, this one
is available to build in anytime a user likes... hoping over time it
gains traction too; we have around 6 players building a world there too. :P
Nice! The only bummer was how few player slots there were. I dropped out after my first match to adjust a few settings and then couldn't get back in for several matches, and I was watching my free time tick down.
Luckily a few people gave up their spots and I managed to jump back in
for a bit. Anyway, I know that's an issue with map size more than anything, so not really a complaint.

Pretty cool. Is it highly modded or pretty much stock? I've never played with Minetest but did play Minecraft a fair bit way back in the day.
We're playing around w/ different ways to mitigate/make thing fair - the 1st couple months only brough around 10 players, so it was real easy and everyone got in and out with no issues - but last night was so many players that it caused some issue. We're chatting about; last winner
sits out, change password monthly and can only get @ 2oFB (so the DOOM players don't overtake a BBS meetup...), doing TEAMS so if theres two strong players they each goto a team, etc etc.
Main thing is; these are good problems to have!!! Its been a great
meetup - and, mikethemac who is a fairly new BBS user gets all the
glory; the 2oFB COMMUNITY literally creates all these cool things... I just show up and PLAY! :P
Right??? On avg we're around 50-60 - literally dude!!! The local msg
areas @ 2oFB MIGHT be the most trafficked conference out of all the FTNs even!! :P Well.... ALMOST. :P
Just give a .png/image... we'd love to have you!
One simple solution that occurred to me while playing was to reshuffle or entirely drop the player list between matches/maps instead of the same people getting stay on the roster the entire time, if that's fairly easy to do out of the box or script with Zandronum.
Meanwhile, I get a few and most of them log in invisibly. I should probably start doing some self-promotion again one of these days. :P Honestly, I'm just as happy to have it be my own little retro niche on
the Internet, and enough people (such as yourself) occasionally give it shout outs, I can't complain! Although... 80 callers a day. Phew.
I allow invisible but only for s50 users (EXTENDED ACS - anyone can get it, but users start at s20). I also limit invisible logins AFTER the 1st call of the day...
