I was extremely tired by D3. I like D1 and D2 but D3 was too long, too boring and not that dark and gloomy as previous parts.

If D4 fixes my problems with D3, maybe I'll reconsider, but looking forward and expect it... nah.

I have different backlog of games I need and want to catch up with

Yes sir. They say sometime in October on Steam.

It's coming to Steam but it's already been available for months via Blizzard's launcher and on console breaking all sorts of sales records, so it's not quite a re-release. If anything, I see them bringing it to Steam as an act of desperation. :/ At least that way maybe it'll go on sale more often, however.

Luckily for you, you don't need to speculate. There are a thousand reviews out there which can answer all of this for you. :P

I've played it quite a bit. Here's a short version: Tonally, it's much more like Diablo II than Diablo III was (regardless of if you liked D3 or not, I think most people would agree that D2 was superior in that regard.) In fact, I think they did an *awesome* job on presentation. If you like this kind of game, there's a great chance you'll love D4. What many of the complaints online are actually around is the end game, which, honestly, despite loving Diablo since the first game, I've never cared about. I play through the campaign with one class/character and quit, then later if I feel the itch, play through it again with a new character. In this respect, Diablo 4 feels quite good to me.

Thanks.. It seems by your comparison to D2 and other reviews that D4 is more darker like the initial two. I liked that more than D3 that was more like Planescape game on some high fantasy planes yet still with Angels and Demons.. than what I thought Diablo ought to be.

Can I play solo and offline or this is multi/online game only this time?

I enjoyed D3 (although I only played it after the pre-expansion patch that re-tuned and fixed everything, so that's kind of cheating) and I wasn't pissy about the tone of it (although the whole "nephalem" thing, and a lot of the writing really, was a bit more silly than D1 and D2) but the super dark tone of the previous games is one of the things I loved about them.

Speaking of which, the recent D2 remaster is quite good if you ever fancy replaying it.

I *think* it's an always online game, unfortunately. The only practical reason for this is that you can/do encountered other players in the open world, especially in cities, and can participate in public event type quests on the map with them (*) and of course it makes dropping in and out of co-op play with your friends super seamless, but in reality I'm sure it's mostly an anti-piracy and mega-telemetry gathering measure. :P

(*) It doesn't really feel like an MMO despite this. Interaction with other players is fairly uncommon from what I've seen. Sometimes someone will help you kill a pack of monsters if they run into you, and then run off, but that's about it. On top of that, out in the far reaches of the map, running into randos is fairly rare.

Yeah, I'm considering it. I still have original release with LOD expansion. It worked on Windows 7 so maybe it will continue to work on my Windows 10 machine today... but remake is tempting me occasionally, indeed.

That's pity, I was never much onto online diablo experience. I know this is experience that many people buy this game for.. but I liked my own solo rides much better. I saw some scene release of D4 with some fake server check.. but first I think I'm too old to rip games I'm suppose to like, secondly.. I wonder when they turn them down :)

I'm 95% sure it does indeed still work.

I'm with you there. I play a lot of MMOs and such, but Diablo was never that for me. Still, as I was saying, you will only occasionally see other players in the overworld and the quests, story missions, etc. still feel very much like a solo game unless you purposely want to play them cooperatively.
