I was a metalhead when I first became a user on Distortion about 15
years ago. I've changed over the years!
If anyone has the stomach for trying Christian Contemporary, I recommend these 2 songs:

I still can't get into country with a few exceptions. Shooter's stuff
is cool, and I dig that "Tennessee Whiskey" group whose name I can't remember. Christian music though...def gonna have to miss me with that
one haha.

Ill play it forward and backwards!

I pretty much listen to the same type of stuff I listened to back in the heyday of the BBS - the 90s. I didn't realize at the time what an
artistic renaissance we were in, but man oh man were we spoiled.

I can't just sit here and watch you fall to the wayside. :(
I watched Yellowstone, and pulled up Ryan Bingham on Spotify. That led
me to Chris Stapleton, I really dig them both. And, Shooter. And Zakk Wylde when he was in his "Pride and Glory" phase.

I do not, but I definitely understand a shift to lighter, more relaxing stuff that's easier to listen to casually. I still dig all of the
crazier shit I listened to as a teenager, but as an old man, I've
expanded my horizons quite a bit and, and often into the more chill direction.

Shooter is a cool guy, and I like his BBS, but I tried listening to one
of his songs and I couldn't get into it. Probably the people who have always loved country music would enjoy it.
I know, I should stop letting politics ruin music for me, but I'm a
little insane and I just can't help it. I don't treat regular people
that way, just celebrities because I hate the way they abuse their popularity.

Metal can be too exciting. My favorite songs are still as great as they ever were but it's too distracting to have on while I'm trying to learn something or trying to figure something out. It's best to pull out those CDs while drinking and cleaning the attic.

You're the sane one. Nobody likes country because most of it really
does suck.

He did a track with Manson that I liked, it was not traditional country
at all, more sinister if I recall. Pretty cool track. I think there's a music video for it, too...wish I could remember the name.
When I'm working, I can't listen to anything with lyrics. I have undiagnosed ADHD and lyrics distract me WAY too much. So, I like progressive/modal jazz as background music while working. It chills me out, at least I think it does, and sometimes when I need a break, listening to it makes my mind wander to some cool places.
If you're interested, check out some John Coltrane records. It'll put
you in a good spot.
I'm the same way. I can't listen to music with words while reading anything, because my brain wants to comprehend the lyrics and the book
at the same time, and it can't.
I still haven't watched Walk The Line (Shooter plays Waylon,) but I want to. Johnny Cash's music was ok I guess.
I often listen to the jazz channels on Pandora and I've enjoyed
Coltrane. I don't know any specific songs by him, but I know it's instrumental and good.
There's a band (was) called The Dave Brubeck Quartet, and they impressed me. I forgot the name, but there's 1 song by them that particularly
kicks ass.
This song sounds pretty good, I just don't like the vocals.
When I ran, I had a couple of metal play lists - hair metal from the
'90s made for great running music. Queensryche's Operation:Mindcrime
made for a great 50 minute run. Another mix was Cinderella, The Cult,
RATT (groan, I know) and Ozzy, from the Ultimate Sin and Bark at the
Moon - all of them had about the same tempo.

at the same time, and it can't.
I'm split on this. My tactic is to listen to songs I already know really, really well, so I don't need to process or really even acknowledge the words. The problem is that this sometimes has the opposite effect and I start singing along. ;)
Check out the song "Giant Steps" - my favorite. Also extremely difficult to play.

Take Five! Amazing group and song.

I agree. I don't like the high pitched stuff. But, I think I mentioned in another message to listen to the last minute or minute and a half. That shows his range (which is pretty impressive).
I gave it another try. I see what you mean by the end of the track. That
is kinda hilarious how he varies the range like that. I've never heard anything like that from other death metal bands.
That probably made his throat hurt!
approximately the same tempo. The Ultimate Sin was a great Ozzy album, and

This is (I believe, as I'm still at entry level here, lol) labeled "Deathcore". Apparantly, it's supposed to be a completely different
genre. lol
That probably made his throat hurt!
I doubt it. He has a bunch of Youtube videos (vocal playthroughs, even) showing how he does it. In those videos, it doesn't even seem like he tries very hard. He can do it at a normal volume, without looking like he's screaming or pushing as hard as he can. It's wierd.

Loved Jake E. Lee's work on that, loved him in Badlands, the new-ish
stuff hasn't sunk in yet. It's not them, it's me. I've changed. :)
Yea, Jake E Lee is underrated, and so is Badlands. Their songs never get played on the shitty radio stations that we have in my area.
Can you sing along to a song and remain focused on what you're doing?
I almost called it "grindcore" because the instruments sound a bit like Napalm Death. We can't be mis-gendering this stuff!
I've listened to interviews with Chris Barnes (Six Feet Under) and David Vincent (Morbid Angel) and they have really rough sounding voices when
they talk. Maybe they can learn something from the guy from Lorna Shore.
I'm a politically-charged guy. I think I began to like country because I thought all the country artists were MAGA like me. A lot of them are
(seem to be) but there's a few on my shitlist like Garth Brooks and Reba. So far, none of the Christian artists have pushed Biden on me. Hopefully they never do, but it could happen! :)

I'm apolitique( now if I could get on the Oninon's pay roll I would totally be political stricly for the money.
I've never hard a MAGA person force me to have their views. And I've gone to see artists/musicians who would make B ernie look ultra-right.
Back in 2015 I met a hobo (yes a real life hobo aka train rider), who
had a tatoo of Donald Trump AND Bernie Sanders.
Then there is ALien JouRGensen. and his side project
Buck Satan and the 666 Shooters.. (yes.. COUNTRY) QUICKER THAN LIQUOR
Bernie is the one who should be running for president insead of Kamala.
I remember a article on the hard times back in 2015 that they were single issues voters and LOVE Berenies bad ass sword that Ross H. Perot gave
him.

Me neither, but I wouldn't mind if they did. You know me, I'm a MAGA guy. went to a Trump rally earlier this month and enjoyed it better than any mu concert that I've ever been to. It was awesome. When Trump walked on to th stage, it was like a fentanyl injection.

The independent ticket?
Then again. I bet that Donald Trump is going to release his own weed strain.
In 2021 I went to a Trump event; This is my experience
I got REALLY stoned. Like Cheech & Chong level of stoned.
Ate some shrooms
then i went to my car to do some whippits (YEs whippits)
Went to folks who had Q t-shirts, sold q-0anon insurance policy,
WOAH . I've enver seen someones head expand adn expand and expand like a balloon. It was freakin EPIC. An di remember Donald Trump said to the crowd' You know why people rob banks? That's where the money's at.
AFter that I go to conession, folks buying me drinks and I'm
REALLY shot off like a sling shot. (I'm surp[rised no one mentioned anything about me reaking with herb ahahah)

If *I would have had a VP I could have easily beat both trump and harris.
I request sponsorship from usdebtclock.org, buy 30 minutes of air time
on ALL public acces stations and read data from the the US Debt Clock
and use the strategy the PIE CHARTS which ROSS H pERTO used.

That's cool that you got all fucked up at the Trump event. I was
totally sober both times but it was still lots of fun. The lines for
the concessions were way too long for me to deal with.

That reminds me of the scene in "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas" where Duke and his attorney get mind-manglingly stoned and attend a drug
seminar held by law enforcement entitled "KNOW YOUR DOPE FIEND!".
It's fun to be intoxicated at a time and place where nobody expects it from you. Being high at work is fun. One time I ate a bunch of edibles (like 400MG) and I went to the airport for a flight. It didn't kick in until the flight already took off so I got to experience being baked on
a flight. It made it a little more fun.

I couldn't/wouldn't want to imagine what that would feel like.
I'm a very paranoid flyer. Logic goes out the window when any form of turbulence kicks in.
Skipped the part about being high at work, because to me, that's terrifying.
But I do take gummies before flights. I did this the first time by accident..I had some gummies in my backpack that I accidentally took on board the plane. Thinking it would be a bad thing to get caught
smuggling cannabis into a country from an international flight, I
decided to get rid of the gummies. My method: eat them. It was an

I try to keep that mentality regarding stewards not screaming. In this event you are describing, did they scream?
A flight like that may be the end of flights for me moving forward.
Yep.. they did :/
I tried not to... I was slowly to accept my fate and I was so paralyzed
by fear that I could not feel a lady next to me pinned her nails onto my arm holding it with her hand.
It was 5-10mins (felt like 20-30) of nightmare before we had left the storm cloud safe.
This is maybe going to sound a little weird, but when I fly I take on
kind of a care free, fatalistic attitude that if shit goes wrong, it
goes wrong. I'm just like "Ohhh lord, take the wheel!" :D There's
nothing I can do about it once we're in the air, so I might as well not dwell on it. Sometimes I even find the whole thing kind of amusing. I don't know what's wrong me. :P

wasn't full or very close to it. Anyway, we had several patchy spots
where the plane felt like it was free falling for multiple seconds,
during which shit went flying, the overhead compartments flew open, etc.
I remember looking at my coworker, who was already so nervous about
flying that he ordered a double vodka as soon as he could, as he
instantly pressed the call button so he could order a second one. I did th
