Before you can truly enjoy other more robust and full flavored cigars, it's good to freshen your palette to something smooth like a Romeo y Julieta 1845. It's kind to your pocket pocket book (affordable cigars) and an easy smoke. Just remember to not puff on the cigar too often.
It's not a cigarette. If you burn the fillers to fast it'll taste ashy. You can tell when someone's rushing to finish their cigar because
they're constantly spitting (the flavor has already gotten nasty) and
has ruined their palette.
I second a Romeo y Julieta - won best of in 2o19 I believe, and its a really smooth smoke.
I like Maduro's of different types... while you can go wrong with some sucky brands, I usually enjoy this middle of the road style...
or peppery flavor in in them. That sweet flavor tastes well with rum or cognac. Certain ones pair well with coffee.
Do you have any cognac recommendations?

Hennessey Cognac XO, Remy Martin XO, and Courvoisier XO.
Ever had De Luze (VSOP)? This stuff is very nicely priced and I think
it's excellent. Also, St. Remy XO is quite good and also a good price.
Do they keep the Henny/Remy/Martell etc "behind the counter" where you
buy booze? You can barely browse Cognac around here because every store keeps it behind the counter and you have to ask for it. It's so
blatantly racist. Meanwhile, hundred-dollar bottles of bourbon and
scotch are sitting on shelves like it's no problem.
